High performance SAE50 engine oil. Castrol Classic GP50 is an advanced high performance, high viscosity petrol engine oil. It is formulated with high quality mineral oils, plus carefully selected additives to satisfy the lubrication requirements of large capacity engines in arduous conditions, certain motorcycles ‘street machines” and those involved in motor sport with such engines.

Castrol Classic GP50 is a fully formulated API SG/CD premium engine oil and may be used for normal oil change periods in high performance road cars. Castrol Classic GP50 has better start-up characteristics than normal straight SAE 50 oils, and as good as or better than straight SAE 40 oils.

Castrol Classic GP50 has been very successfully used in Group A, Formula Holden, Drag Racing, Nascar and inboard boat engines.

Note: Castrol Classic GP50 is a “Heavy” viscosity SAE25W/50 oil and care should be taken during initial warm up before maximum performance/revs are utilised. When used with alcohol fuel, for speedway or drag racing GP50 should be used as a “one meeting” oil.

Castrol Classic GP50 was developed for racing, making it particularly suitable for high performance classic cars and motorcycles. This oil was widely used in vehicles pre-war and during the 1940s was also used in aero engines. Its excellent high temperature performance and film strength makes it a popular oil for larger engines that are hard on their lubricants, and it remains popular in the classic racing world today.
